In the aftermath of a bloody attack that left many houses razed and many souls lost in Bagana, a riverine community located in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, a sociopolitical pressure group, Kogi Youth Advocates of Good Governance (KYGG) has cautioned the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Mr Edward Onoja over what they described as "misguided comments".

Mr. Onoja while reacting to a Facebook publication wrote "We must get to the roots of those who hired the mercenaries and had ready fake and false narratives to peddle. If we fail in this, that we don’t love our land.

"He is Odaudu Moses Abraham from Omala an Assistant Director in National Space Research And Development Agency. He and Dr Seidu Ogah where former aides to Ibrahim Idris who claims to come from Omala too,".

Addressing journalists on Monday at a press briefing, the group applauded the intervention of the state government but tasked Governor Yahaya Bello to be more proactive to prevent a reoccurrence.

The group further cautioned Chief Edward Onoja to desist from making "cheap comments" and projections for political benefits.

Read part of the statement below:

"We condole with the people of Bagana community and the entire Omala Local Government Area of Kogi state over the recent attacks allegedly perpetrated by Fulani Herdsmen. While we appreciate the intervention of the state government for sending securities to the scene to prevent further death and damages, we are equally tasking the state governor to be proactive to prevent reoccurrence.

" We note with pain that Omala local government area has been a choice location of these inimically charged attackers in recent time however we implore residents of the area to be law abiding and security conscious.

"We are also calling on the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Mr. Edward Onoja to desist from misguided comments tantamount of heating the polity for political benefits. In one of his recent gaffes, he strived to belittle the integrity of Prof Seidu Onailo Mohammed, a notable son of Omala Kingdom by referring to him as a 'Dr' and linking the trailblazer to a Facebook post that caught his attention.

"Prof Seidu Onailo Mohammed should not be drawn into the mud at such a critical time like this when he is mourning the demise of his kinsmen who died during the recent attack in Bagana. As a group poised to ensure the triumph of good governance in Kogi State, we are imploring Mr. Edward Onoja to tender an unreserved apology to Prof Seidu Onailo Mohammed because the recent attack in Omala should not be utilized as a political tool.

" Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere. We call on the law enforcement agents to bring perpetrators of this dastardly act to book without interest or favour. Any unscrupulous elements indicted should be made to face the law".
